Dong Grand Song & Xinjiang Markit Dolan Muqam Ensemble

This concert is an introduction to the finest vocal traditions of the ethnic minorities of southern and western China. Originating from the Guizhou mountains and the Taklamakan desert, these singers from the Dong minorities and the Xinjiang Markit Dolan Muqam Ensemble will present their extraordinary polyphonic songs, their musical instruments, and their dances, most of which have never been seen or heard outside China.
